Mrs. Smien Ran is presenting community health program in Siem Reap.
15 Caritas’s health program staff gathered in a two-day reflection workshop on “community health program”, from 19-20 November 2015 at Caritas office. It is for the first time the workshop was conducted and led by the program monitoring and evaluation department. Ms. Nay Vichheka, program monitoring and evaluation manager said the workshop aims 1/ to enhance staff capacity, 2/ to discuss on the achievements, challenges and development of the program; and 3/ to collectively define a future strategic plan.
Caritas Cambodia launched community health program since 2008. Funded by INDITEX through Caritas Spain, the program is currently operating in three provinces of Battambong, Siem Reap and Preah Vihear.
In Battambang, community health program reached to three districts with a special focus on mother and child health care as well as capacity building program. While,  the program in Preah Vihear is centered on capacity building of the community, village development associations, village health support groups, traditional birth attendants, and primary health care education and awareness campaign. In Siem Reap, the program contributes to the improvement of health condition of many people in 52 remote villages of Svay Leu , Chikreng and Sothnikum districts through a wide range of community based health activities jointly implemented by the health centre, commune authority,

school, village health support groups and other partners. All program activities are designed to be in-lined with the Cambodian Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
Participants took part in the discussion and exercise.
Mr. Houn Kosal, program officer of Battambong said the workshop is a learning process. “What I strongly expect from the workshop is to hear the best practices of the program from other provinces. I hope that we will have a fruitful discussion and planning that we will be able to continue implementing the program more effectively and efficiently”, Kosal added. Mrs. Smien Ran, community health program manager shared a similar thought. She stressed that the workshop provides her an opportunity to raise concern, propose new ideas and design a project implementation plan from January-December 2016.
The workshop does not entirely discuss on the process of program implementation but also it brings in the presentation of Caritas’s monitoring and evaluation system as well as financial issues/donor requirement respectively led by Mrs. Sou Sotheany, program monitoring and evaluation officer and Mr. Youn Sinlong, finance officer, with the hope sthat all participants would become more aware about the entre process of their program implementation.   spch03
